You have made some good and sobering points. I've thought a lot about this over the past 50 years. What can be said about a people who say that their clearly stated goal is to murder all Jews? How can this ever lead to peace?

From the religious angle there have been many, including Sam Harris, who have said that Islam never went through the same revolution that Christianity and Judaism did so that the repugnant and archaic ideas of the religion have been dismissed and abandoned.

Religion is a problem; it's divisive and full of attacks against "the other." And it's immune to logic and fact.
