Wow, wow, and wow!! What a brilliant article this is. It gave me the chills to read it. This goes to show how our sense of history in this nation has been so skewed and twisted over the centuries. I try to be logical and clear-headed when I read accounts like this, and there seems to be no way to ignore the constant cascade of dishonor, oppression, and invalidation of the Black experience in the United States. This account of Memorial Day is just one more example.

I'd like to see you write something about the Tuskegee airmen as well, a nearly forgotten group of WWII heroes whose effort has been subsumed by popular culture.
