I'm trying to be careful not to be argumentative here, especially because it seems that on social media people are quick to jump on you if they disagree. My only intention is to clarify things. I can only speak from my own experience. So here goes...
When you say, "...the individualized Atman, or Soul, identifies as the Self..." what do you mean? How do you see the soul, atman, or self are different? Is this your experience or what you conceive of intellectually? When the self is exposed as an illusion there is great clarity to show that that which is separate is the egoic self, whether it's called soul, a spirit, higher self, or anything else. It doesn't matter whether this is in the waking world, a dream, a Near Death Experience, an Out of Body experience, or any other state. The cornerstone of the self is its perceived separation from the whole. We are either the totality or we are not. If we are not, then these differentiations are really no different at all; they are more of the same.
To your other point, I ask how nothing can perceive anything. There must be a point of view to perceive, some thing that is aware. Nothing is not a thing.
Regarding God, a word you mentioned, this opens a different kind of situation, depending on how God is defined. God of the bible is certainly separate and was invented as an individual entity.
Regarding the "I am," here is an article I wrote about it a while back... https://medium.com/illumination-curated/the-primal-thought-of-i-am-017857770463
