I hear what you are saying, but the very nature of social media is like a runaway train — it just keeps picking up speed and destroying everything in its path. And now, it seems, that the major networks are trying to keep up by reporting little besides sensational stories.
There is very little real journalism anymore, because it's just not important to give the public facts. It's all about ratings all the way around, so all of the media, including social media, have one goal only: to make more money by getting as many views as possible despite the content.
