I found a lot of what you wrote to be funny, often not in a good way.
I have lived in the USA for my entire life and I cannot relate to most of what you have written, although I have seen these behaviors in others.
A lot of what you've written does have to do with inculcation into a crazy, self-centered, sociopathic paradigm wherein making money is believed to be the most important thing life has to offer. And, yes, the individual is far more important here than society as a whole, and this is a big problem on many levels. However, again, it's just not possible to make such a broad statement and still be accurate in your assessment. There are many people who dedicated their lives to the environment, equality, and all the rest. And there are others who love Donald Trump and either applaud or ignore his disrespect for others, lack of basic intelligence, criminal past, sexual offenses, and pathological lying.
There are commonalities in all people regarding the ego or sense of self, regardless of where in the world someone lives. And this sense of self finds itself to be the most important thing of all. But perhaps America has more tolerance for this on a social level. I've never lived in another country, so I cannot say for certain.
As you suggested, people are different all across this big nation, so it's really not possible to accurately state "what Americans are like."
