I am not well-versed in all of these isms. When I think of being conservative, perhaps not "a" conservative, then I think of someone who conserves or saves. In this case the term creates an image of someone who cares about, and wants to protect, nature, relationships, positive values, and so on. It's interesting to see how these words come to be associated with just the opposite.
Even the most right wing Republican can be conservative when it comes to issues of the environment, especially when he goes to his favorite fishing hole and finds that all the fish are dead due to factory pollution, or that the forest has diminished and there isn't enough wildlife to shoot.
In summary, life is crazy and so are the people in it.
