How many OBEs did your psychiatrist have, or is he just making an assessment based on intellectual understanding and medical bias.

I have had more than 1000 of these experiences and in nearly all of them the sense of self is fully retained. I have never had an OBE through a drug or hallucinogen. However, this, as you say, is possible, as well as through meditation.

The idea of leading to psychosis is unfounded unless a person has tremendous fear, but if this is the case such a person would be subject to psychosis even without the OBE.
