As I read through your article I kept waiting to hear the other side of the story — the students and faculty who are being threatened, disparaged, and defamed for their religion. No mention, though.
While I hardly think that there is much of a comparison between Kent State and what's happening on today's campuses, because it's quite the logical fallacy of false equivalence, I do agree about the dangers of a police force sent in to quell peaceful protests. And, yes, this is a typical response of the right. But now we have to ask if rabid antisemitic actions and words, as well as physical abuse of Jewish students, are to be considered peaceful. Are they?
I have been following the politics of Israeli-Arab relations, the constant threats of Palestinians and their neighbors to annihilate all the Jews in the Middle East, and the repetition of mass murders from the Olympic games of 1972 (which I watched live as the event tragically unfolded) down to the atrocities committed on October 7 of last year, as well as the propaganda campaign launched by several Middle East countries as well as the Palestinians. Not much has changed over the many decades. On the eve of every peace talk there is a savage attack against Israel. In addition to all of this, Hamas is still holding hostages and still abusing the Palestinians by using them as human shields, stealing and denying incoming aid, and so on.
While I have always been a liberal, what is going on with the left is anything but liberal for a good many provable reasons.
What do you suppose would be a better solution to the problem on college campuses today?
