Our capitalist system is indeed given a pass by psychiatrists and society at large, and to argue there is no proof that capitalism has caused more destruction than goodness is just denying the facts. Statistics abound. Capitalism seems to be based upon a sociopathic paradigm and those who embrace it clearly treasure material goods, money, status power, and/or success over human feelings and value. We can see and measure the effects upon the environment, quality of life, mental stress, emotional suffering, poverty, the ruination of certain economies, war, violence, family disintegration, gang warfare, theft, disintegration of neighborhoods, homelessness, and on and on.
